So, as reported by Dhruvi, Katrina Kaif just bagged another Yash Raj Film! This girl is currently the hottest thing in Bollywood. Is she the best actress now? Not quite (in my opinion, Vidya Balan is). Is she the best dancer? Well, Malaika Arora still rocks. But, she’s adored by the masses and came a LONG way from her debut in the all-around flop Boom, at 19 years old. I know, there’s the Salman Khan factor, and then the media accused her of cheating with Bollywood’s Casanova Ranbir Kapoor, and yet that only helped her career. What gives?
Well, Katrina has a good image, a reclusive/quiet/conservative girl the masses adore. Deepika Padukone‘s been vocal about her relationships in the media; Katrina Kaif doesn’t divulge information. Her interviews are the same, revealing nothing. Her life pre-Bollywood is interesting and has slowly revealed these details, like her 7 siblings, living in dozens of countries, and traveling from Japan to France on a boat (that is a LONG trip to take with 7 kids!) She says she wasn’t thought of as pretty growing up, I guess that’s modest, but Katrina had to have some idea of her looks to consider modelling at 14, right?
However, her hard-working nature is emphasized in EVERY interview. She’s also a “family” type of girl, declaring previously how she hoped to be married with kids by 30. Even with “racy” scenes in Boom with Gulshan Grover (those scenes were funny), she has a no bikini policy, not to mention her “no relationships discussion in press” policy. She also is in SO MANY advertisements. You cannot go down the street and not see an ad of Katrina Kaif, in contrast to Sonam Kapoor. Having Katrina Kaif associated with your product is favorable for many companies, and since Bollywood is a business, it is no different. Box Office results are important for her, thus, producers welcome an actress concerned whether her film makes a profit.

PS: I also think Katrina owes Priyanka Chopra. You see, Priyanka Chopra was the hot young thing paired successfully with Akshay Kumar, but Twinkle Khanna objected to their pairing, Katrina filled the void, leading to the many Katrina Kaif-Akshay Kumar films that were box office hits and benefit her career.
