Even though she might have won the coveted CFDA Award for Fashion Icon Of The Year, Lady Gaga – like the rest of us, lesser mortals – can sometimes get it all horribly wrong.
Last night, she put up a photo on a networking site, of her walking in the streets of New York. But from the tacky and trashy outfit she wore (above) we can’t help but think that the walk in the street made her look like a street-walker looking for a pick-up.
Was Gaga trying to do a “Pretty Woman” a la Julia Roberts? It sure looks like that. But if we had to vote on who wore the better outfit – AND vote on who looked hotter as a hooker – my vote goes to Roberts.
And speaking of hot hookers, a number of our Indian stars have played them to perfection as well. Right from Rekha, who played a “courtesan” in Umrao Jaan, to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who reprised the role a few decades later but could not pull it off the way Madame Re did it!
Sushmita Sen, the gorgeous lass who pipped Aishwarya Rai in the Miss India contest and then went on to win Miss Universe, also played a woman of questionable values in Kalpana Lajmi’s Chingari.
Let’s not forget the sultry and sensuous Kareina Kapoor in Chameli. If all women of ill-repute looked like her, the divorce courts would be full of a million broken marriages every day.
