Ekta Kapoor’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2 just got bigger. First, there was the surprising news of Akshay Kumar being roped in to play the role of Dawood Ibrahim (played by Emraan Hashmi in the original) and how he’s working on his rugged look for the movie (Swweeet!) And now, the grapevine suggests that Shahid Kapoor has almost confirmed his presence in this much awaited sequel about the Mumbai underworld.

I really enjoyed watching Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi in the first movie and would totally love a sequel. But, the casting director seems to be having a hard time figuring out who’s going to play Dawood’s arch rival in the movie. Shahid’s other new flick, Mausam with Sonam Kapoor is out real soon.

If Shahid decides to do the movie, he’ll be playing the role of Chota Rajan, who from a friend goes on to become Dawood’s worst enemy. Milan Luthria (the director) and Ekta Kapoor are looking for someone who can do justice to an intense character like the one which Shahid played in Kaminey.

Though the makers haven’t confirmed Shahid’s presence in the project yet, his last movie with Akshay Kumar was a multistarrer flick Deewana Huye Pagal where his role was largely overshadowed by the presence of Akshay’s character. And after that he’s pretty much stuck to solo hero projects like Kaminey, Vivaah and Jab We Met ( wasn’t he adorable in this one). I wonder if he’s a tad insecure about sharing screen space with Akki again. Hmm, if he does decide to do the flick, it’ll be interesting to see Akshay Kumar Vs. Shahid Kapoor. May the best don win!
