As writers / journalists / bloggers, we are pretty used to getting numerous E-mails from various PR agencies, patiently describing and singing the praises of their client’s latest achievement /product etc.

Some are worth reporting, others are trashed and some…. well…. at least make us laugh in amusement!

Today I received an Email press release which read: VIRGIN ATLANTIC SWEETENS INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS BOTH ON-BOARD & ON-GROUND. So I opened it with mild interest and nearly fell off my chair in laughter as the press release had pictures of desserts being served on board – in the tri-colour of the Indian flag – to celebrate Independence Day.

Now we all know that Sir Richard Branson is quite into marketing gimmicks and that he’s also (supposedly) a bit eccentric. But tri-coloured desserts are a bit much, don’t you think?
