Singer/Music Composer Adnan Sami turns 38 today and it’s hard to believe our introduction to the talented Pakistani artist was barely 11 years ago. Sami’s debut album Kabhi To Nazar Milao was #1 on the charts for a whopping 72 weeks, featured the evergreen Asha Bhosle and made Adnan Sami a household name overnight.
Sami set a trend of having popular celebrities feature in his videos including Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Raveena Tandon, Diya Mirza, Bhoomika Chawla, Mahima Chaudhry, Govinda, Ameesha Patel and Aditi Govitrikar.
Sami followed up Kabhi To Nazar Milao with the even more successful album Tera Chehra. While his independent music career was soaring he also entered the Bollywood scene by playback singing for films like Ajnabee, Saathiya and Yuva and composing for films such as Lucky.
In 2007 after a short sabbatical, Sami surprised everyone with his massive weight-loss as he made a comeback to the music scene. Sami has been active in the playback singing arena and continues to work on independent projects, (though his last project where he collaborated with Jermaine Jackson wasn’t very successful) and is also a judge on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs.
