French artist Henri Matisse (1869-1954) finds himself in the spotlight as Donatella Versace launches the 2012 Resort line which are heavily inspired by his leaf paintings (above).
The leaf print is great for a tropical holiday in the Bahamas and adds a super-bright dash of colour to the 2012 Spring-Summer wardrobe. However, Donatella is not the first designer to be inspired by Matisse. In the early Eighties, Grand Master Yves Saint Laurent did an entire collection themed around the French painter’s famous canvases and sculptures. Here are a few images from the YSL archives.
Maybe I’m just old-fashioned but my votes go to Yves Saint Laurent for his classic couture creations! Donatella Versace can never match-up to the legendary designer’s vision. What do you think?
