Designer Marc Jacobs seems to have given his fans an overdose of colour-blocking for Spring 2012. His pret label, ‘Marc by Marc Jacobs’ is sufficiently vibrant in VIBGYOR tones of blue, green, yellow, orange and red. But the huge chunks of colour without any prints (except for a floral bird print that appeared on a few dresses and skirts and a few striped garments), seemed to be a bit too startling and in-your-face.

His silhouettes were very very simple and consisted of swimwear, cigarette pants with tube-tops, dresses (often belted at the waist), casual jackets with contrast detailing on the sleeves and hemlines, shirt-dresses and some pretty neat shorts.

Some of the trousers had contrast outer-pockets, thereby bringing the colour-blocking theme into prominence yet again! It was a “play-safe” collection that bordered on the boring. Let’s hope Marc Jacobs explores his flamboyant side if he ever dose sign on the dotted line for Dior.
