Movies I'm Not Looking Forward To
Movies I’m Not Looking Forward To

As someone who’s been watching movies every Thursday for as long as I can remember, there are certain movies I wish I hadn’t wasted my time on. Spending a lot of other time watching theatrical trailers and keeping up with forthcoming releases, here’s a list of movies I’d happily skip. You agree?

Chargesheet

Director & Cast: Dev Anand, Naseruddin Shah, Divya Dutta, Yashpal Sharma, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Anand
Release Date: 30th September 2011

So, I’m not the biggest Dev Anand fan around. Yes, I watched Guide in the Film and Literature class in college and Hum Dono in theatres when it re-released in colour. I loved both films. But 66 years after his debut, I have very little interest in watching Dev Anand play the lead in a film. Especially with 4 other releases clamoring for my attention. There, I said it. I just wish there was some context to the film.

Rascals

Director & Cast: David Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, Kangna Ranaut, Lisa Haydon
Release Date: 6th October 2011 (Dussehra)

First of all, the thought of watching two fully grown men (Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn) acting like babies in a hackneyed comedy is majorly unappealing. Secondly, watching Kangna strut around in a bikini with heels being followed by bodyguards just makes no sense.

And last of all, I could definitely come up with a better way to celebrate Dussehra. So David ji, thanks but no thanks.

Damadamm

Director & Cast: Swapna Joshi, Himesh Reshammiya, Sonal Sehgal, Purbi Joshi
Release Date: 27th October 2011

Whether he is smiling (Damadamm) or not (Karzzzz), I am never smiling when Himesh Reshammiya is on screen. The man should stick to directing music (case in point: Bodyguard), not sing and definitely not act. Once you watch the promo, you can’t get the ‘No touching, only seeing, no touching, only seeing‘ shrieks out of your head. And if these reasons aren’t enough for you, answer this. Who in their right mind releases a film with Shah Rukh Khan‘s most awaited, Ra.One?

Loot

Director & Cast: Rajneesh Thakur, Govinda, Suniel Shetty, Ravi Kishan, Mahaakshay Chakraborty, Hansika Motwani, Shweta Bhardwaj, Jaaved Jaaferi
Release Date: 4th November 2011

While my colleague only told you of this film yesterday and Aditya Raj Kapoor‘s hopes for it, it’s not on my list of cracker movies. The last time I watched Mimoh on screen (Haunted 3D),  the horror movie was an unintentional comedy. The only factor taking  away from his acting potential was that he agreed to dialogue like, “I  do not use drugs, aur mein stupid bhi nahi hoon. Maine MBA kiya hai,  Stanford University, America se.” Priceless. I don’t even know who sat  through Govinda and Hansika’s last movie together (Money Hai Toh Honey Hai). As if the stellar star cast weren’t enough, our very own Rakhi Sawant has performed an item number in the movie. Eeks!

Miley Naa Miley Hum

Cast & Director: Tanveer Khan, Chirag Paswan, Kangna Ranaut
Release Date: 4th November 2011

That’s right! Kangna Ranaut makes an appearance again after Rascals,   whether in a bikini or not, only time will tell. Until then, we are   introduced to a “player” who makes his debut with the film, Chirag   Paswan. Clearly, the word “player” is a take on his on-screen tennis   skills. What about his acting skills though? I leave you with a song   from the movie to figure. Enjoy!
