Actor Akshay Kumar has a large heart and to raise money for Muktangan Charitable Trust which helps disadvantaged children, the action man has… well, taken some much needed action, to raise funds.
Muktangan currently needs Rs. 10 lakh that would partially cover one of their school pre-primary annual budgets for the academic year 2011-2012. The donor supporting this project would be directly fulfilling the dreams of the underprivileged children. Founded in 2003, Muktangan has pioneered the Whole School-Based Approach by developing a model that incorporates all the various aspects of quality education: the classroom environment, the curriculum and content, the teacher as a facilitator and the student as an active learner.
Currently, Muktangan runs seven Mumbai Municipal English medium schools in Worli and Lower Parel areas, providing low-cost, high-quality, and child-centered education to more than 2100 children from economically disadvantaged communities with 250 community women as teachers trained through its Teacher Education Programme.
