Steve Jobs passed away in the U.S yesterday after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The Apple co-founder leaves behind a legacy of products that have had a massive impact on the world and changed our lives forever. The tech icon is one of the greatest innovators of our time; responsible for the Apple computer, iPod, iPad, iPhone and Pixar. People study with their iPods in their ears; drive with iTrips plugged in; kids learn their ABCs and rhymes on the iPad while elderly people play Sudoku and angry birds on it. Chances are you use at least one Apple product and have fond memories of watching Toy Story, the first film produced by Pixar. Somewhere in your life Jobs is influencing you.
I work in the music industry, which suffered greatly after Napster came onto the scene and people started illegally downloading music. Thanks to iTunes the industry isn’t completely finished and I’ve had the opportunity to work in it. Team MissMalini uses iMovies to create all the fun videos you watch and we use Photoshop for the pictures.
Not only was he a genius when it came to his inventions but he was a constant inspiration. I, like many others have been more influenced by him as a person than his products. Every time I’m on the verge of making a life-changing decision I watch his Stanford commencement speech and get the confidence to go ahead with what I’ve decided.
We’d like to say thank you for everything Steve Jobs, you were a global icon and will be greatly missed. Years from now we’ll look back and remember where we were when heard this awful news just like we remember where we were when Princess Diana and Michael Jackson passed away, you are a legend. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife and children and his Apple family.
P.S. As a tribute, tell us how Steve Jobs has influenced your life.
