Last night I attended a theme party titled Smasshing Adventures of MissMalini In Wonderland… It was so much fun, we decided to show you how to throw your own Alice In Wonderland theme party!

1. Guest List

Ring in your friends and family for your extravagant tea party. If you happen to know celebrities (MissMalini and Smashh know a ton of them!), make sure they join in the fun.
Spotted: Minissha Lamba, Carol Gracias, Dipannita Sharma, Nina Manuel, Diva, Urvashi & Sucheta Sharma, Alesia Raut, Ash Chandler, Junelia Aguiar, Anshuman Jha, Akki Narula, Aditya Hitkari & Divya Palat, Sammir Dattani, Nisha Harale Bedi and Lavinia Hansraj.

2. Look the part

The best part about a theme party is that you get to pick a character and play dress up. MissMalini looked a super Queen of Hearts with hair and make-up to match courtesy @Smashhthesalon. Her friends and team came in looking the entire range from the Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts and the Cheshire Cat to the March Hare. Even the peeps from Smassh went the extra mile by sporting custom-made Alice In Wonderland costumes!

3. Pick the right venue

The party was held at Vito Lounge at Charni Road. (MissMalini had sent everyone a map to the venue so they could make it hassle free.) Once the guests arrived, they realized there were 4 levels to party. While one hosted a sit-down dinner for the press, another turned into a games lounge, yet another rocked a dance floor and finally, the terrace became a sheesha lounge. How great is that?

4. Food and drinks

Obviously you remember Alice drank a potion and shrunk in size and ate some cake and grew in size? You remember what was written on the potion and cake? ‘Drink me’ and ‘Eat me’. The welcome drinks at the party were served in potion bottles marked ‘Drink me’. Even the stirrers, straws and cocktails menus were tagged ‘Drink me’. The food came on platters with toothpicks calling out ‘Eat me’. Fabulous! To add to the madness, a killer bartender crew (The Flaming Trio led by Binny the Bartender) made flaming shots for those who lost at the drinking game or were brave enough to taste!

5. Decor and party favours

Last but not the least, it is very important that your venue resembles Wonderland. There were mushrooms strategically placed at every nook and corner, jumbo cards lying here and there, card men walking around, checkered table cloth adorning the tables to give you the ‘English feel’ and hookahs similar to Absolem. And just in case, the guests hadn’t time to prepare, they could pick from a range of party favours that included mad hats, bunny ears, tiaras, eye masks and my favourite, bubble blowers!

Obviously, given all that preparation, the party was a smasshing success. And with these tips and tricks, you’re ready to host one yourself, aren’t you? xoxo
