On October 23rd, 2008, Avanti Desai lost her life in a train accident. She is described by her friends as intelligent, witty, and a girl who was full of potential. Unfortunately, Avanti did not get to realize all her potential, but in her memory, her parents have set up a foundation to help other young women fulfill theirs. So on her birthday, November 8th, Avanti Foundation was launched with the vision of inspiring and training young women to become leaders and make a difference.
