The Audelade Million Race marked the start of Mumbai’s racing season 2011-12. Audelade which is an accessory brand, celebrated their 1 year anniversary with a fashion show styled by Vikram Phadnis. Not many celebs turned up but it’s only the start of the season, I’m sure there will be many to come. Now for the fashion, the derby is a time to dress in your lady like best, not in a short cocktail dresses or worse a beach dresses with a bikini! Oh yeah, if you don’t believe me, the proof is in the pictures.
A few glimmers of hope were Bipasha Basu, who looked great in this tangerine mini dress, my only qualm is that it’s too short, had it been knee length even she’d have been our front runner for the day. We have to give Bips props for sticking to her signature look of short dresses, but I’d like to see her change her look a little, maybe channel the likes of Jennifer Lopez, who is looking better by the day.
You have to admire the fact that Minissha Lamba can go from wearing Shivan & Narresh to Zara. Although we’d rather she mix and match her high street and designer clothing and not wear it H2T! If you were planning to get her look, head to ZARA, because it’s all from there. (On a side note, her look was most event appropriate, although that blouse is not flattering on Minissha fab hourglass figure.)
I told you the proof was in the pictures, Alesia Raut and Shonal Rawat look elegant in their day dresses. Good job girls, however the same can’t be said of Kavita Kharayat and Candice Pinto. Candice I’ll still let off the hook, because with a hat it could have been a derby look, but Kavita… you are FINED! Had this been Sunburn, she’d look super styling, but she’s at a derby! Thank goodness she had to change for the fashion show.
Jeans for a derby, I’m not big on the idea, I’m a traditionalist, plus aren’t you fed up of wearing jeans everywhere? Had Shamita Singha worn an A line or pencil skirt with that blouse it would have been a great derby look, the skinny jeans give it a brunch at Olive’s look. Sorry honey, there is always next time. Boys if you have to wear jeans, at least pair it with a blazer like these racing veterans Cyrus Poonawala, Chapak Jhaveri and Vivek Jain.
