About bloody time we got to see the look book of his Spring/Summer 2012 collection. But, for a collection showcased during the London Fashion Week, back in September, shouldn’t that be already floating around, and, perhaps, become stale by now? Errr… It hasn’t…  Really? But, why?

Here’s a man who quit Gucci, and fashion world, when at the height of his powers  after rebranding the parameters of what a fashion brand could be, after creating a new gold standard for sexy (replacing heroin chic with a glossy, slick aesthetic) ‒ to direct a flick, an über slick one with Oscar nominations, called A Single Man. He did get back to fashion with an eponymous line ‒ but with an almost OCD-like approach.

His shows are as exclusive and intimate as one can get, summed up best by Cathy Horyn of New York Times: “[…] causes everyone to panic about missing it or feel bitter about being left out in the first place.” Only a select few fashion journalists and buyers are invited, with no photographs or reviews of the clothes allowed. He releases the pictures as and when he pleases, as he did yesterday for S/S’12, shot by himself (seriously, is there no end to this man’s talents?) exclusively for Vogue.com. And. I. Died.

Epitome of glamour and sensuality it was. Timeless stuff, really. This man just knows how to harness a womanly figure. I just can’t believe that this collection didn’t rouse a standing ovation, when lesser collections have, this season. (Several critics recounted how Ford awkwardly awaited a standing ovation at the end of the show, only to receive polite claps.)

The pieces are just too exquisite ‒ for me to mock up similar stuff for my (or any) wardrobe. And my sketches wouldn’t do justice to their exquisiteness so I’m not even going to try.  What I did do was pick my favourite looks from the collection, do admire their magnificence…

P.S: This man’s a godlike genius, no? And, how dreamy does he look?

P.P.S: Perhaps the Bollywood lot can snap up a few (or all!) from here…
