Fashion watchers are in for a slight disappointment as Madonna’s new film, W.E, based on the scandalous affair between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, has been pushed for release till February 2012. The film was supposed to release in December this year. But because of the Christmas rush and Madonna’s Super Bowl performance, the producers – The Weinstein Co. – have pushed back the release date.
The film is a fashion watcher’s dream with fabulous costumes from the 1930’s. The Duchess of Windsor (Wallis Simpson), wore only Christian Dior, Mainbocher and Chanel couture and these outfits have been replicated in the film. Even her jewelry – which was much talked about at the time – is seen in the film.
