Wearing a white Chanel ballgown with black trimmings and the signature Chanel camellia on her head, Lady Gaga took over Barney’s in New York last night as she inaugurated Gaga’s Workshop on the fifth floor. Adding to the authentic Chanel look, Gaga also wore strings of pearls around her neck and carried a white Chanel purse as well. After her India trip where she dressed down, this too is a departure from her usual whacky style.

For the Christmas holidays, Lady Gaga and her team have taken over Barney’s (and much of New York City) and transformed it into an art and shopping paradise which resonates with her inherent style. And so,even when you walk through the door, it looks like your’re walking through the mouth of a huge monster.

One of the window displays – a boudoir scene – looks like it’s been made entirely out of silver hair – right from the curtains to the mirror frames and even the chairs. There are many “art” installations across New York City as well and right outside the store, you will find garishly coloured cars which enliven the atmosphere.

And what can you expect to buy at Gaga’s workshop? Candles, cosmetics, cookies frosted with the stars image ($15 each), jewelry and of course, all the stuff you can buy from the Haus Of Gaga.

Proceeds from the sales will go towards Gaga’s Born this Way Foundation. So shop till you drop if you’re in New York City.
