Yes, you heard me right, Narendra Kumar can DJ too, he gave it a go last night as his fashion show for IRFW2011. I’m sure with a little more practice with his DJ skills, his parties are going to even more crazy than they are now. I was thrilled to see Narendra’s Osonai collection that was as bold in design as his own personal style. These garment were specially dyed using temple flowers, from the subtle orange to the burst of fuchsia and lemon yellows the colour palette was refreshing.

What I most admire about Narendra Kumar’s design is his knack for making relaxed clothing with a sense of power dressing. It’s that fine balancing act that he get right with every collection. For men as well, he’s always pushing the boundaries, this time his shawl collar linen shirts did just that. Most Indian men who are not experimental, would not have the confidence to pull it off, although we women and Nari encourage men to step out of this thinking. The menswear in the collection is a good beginning for these men to start experimenting with their personal style.

Day 2 definitely ended with a bang and I’m hoping day 3 will as well. Resort wear has to be the most exciting type of fashion out there right now. Considering the weather in Goa, and India for that matter, it’s only natural that our designers should be at the fore front of this new budding genre. One thing is for sure, Narendra Kumar understands this and gave us a great collection that I’m sure we’ll be seeing at the fashion fair on Marbela Beach.
