Nicole Miller just recently launched her collection at the Collective in Mumbai, I’m sure a lot of you girls will go gaga over her dresses, especially for the coming Christmas and new year parties. While I wasn’t able to attend the launch, I did manage to get Nicole to answer my top 5 questions based on what she felt about India, Indian women and fashion. Take a look at what she had to say.

Sue: Being the quintessential New York designer, you have been exposed to many cultures. What is it about the Indian culture/people, now that you been here and are launching here that intrigues you from a fashion perspective.
Nicole: “The fashion scene in India is growing and women are taking more risks with their style. I want to be a part of that.”
Sue: Looking at the Indian celebrities, who do you feel most embodies the Nicole Miller woman and why?
Nicole: “The Nicole Miller woman is modern, sexy and feminine. Sonam Kapoor, Frieda Pinto and Twinkle Khanna who have worn my clothes on occasion.”

Sue: What are some of the pieces from your recent collection that will most capture or suit the modern Indian woman?
Nicole: “My silver foiled denim, sequined holiday dresses and stretch metal cocktail dresses should resonate with the chic Indian clientele”
Sue: Your first impression of India in 3 words.
Nicole: “Spiritual, Traditional, Colorful.”
Sue: Keeping in mind our warm winters, how can Indian women incorporate some of the current trends into their wardrobe
Nicole: “I think they can incorporate most of the current trends in their wardrobe. Color is big for Spring and mixing of prints which is already an Indian tradition.”
