Designer Nachiket Barve has made waves on the catwalk over the past few years and so has model-turned-actress Dipannita Sharma. But a few years ago (just around the time Nachiket arrived on the fashion scene) Dipannita hung up her stilettos and decided to concentrate on films, opting to do very few fashion shows.
Last evening, Dipannita dropped by to the D7 designer preview in Bombay and wore a lovely red dress by Nachiket. Nothing unusual about that, we thought, until, ten minutes later, the designer himself walked in to the venue and looked hesitatingly at the statuesque lady for a few moments. And then, they went on to introduce themselves to each other for the very first time.
It transpires that Nachiket and Dipannita have never really met before and the designer was thrilled to see her wearing his outfit, even though he doesn’t retail in that particular boutique (it’s only for designers from Delhi) and that all the other stars who came, wore outfits by designers who were previewing their winter-festive lines in that space.
Says Dipannita, “I never modeled at the fashion weeks except for show’s by my designer friends! Hence, I’ve never really met Nachiket or even modeled for him! But I love his design sensibilities and hence I’m wearing his outfit today.”
Nachiket’s reaction? A huge smile on his blushing visage!
