It’s hard to shine in Bollywood when your brothers are Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan, but Sohail Khan has managed to make his mark, slipping quietly into the roles of a director, producer and actor. Throughout his career (which is 27 years long – he was a child artist in Hum Hain Lajawaab), he’s directed as well as acted numerous films. For his birthday, let’s take a look at some of his best. :)
I remember seeing this movie when it first came out and really liking it, especially because of the ever-popular O O Jaane Jaana (still obsessed with that song, btw!). It was the first film he directed and he received a nomination for Best Director for this one.
Hello Brother was Sohail’s next film as a director, and it definitely didn’t do anywhere near as well as Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya did, but I still like this song and the whole brotherly concept of having these three (Sohail, Salman, Arbaaz) work on the same film – which remains a trend for much of his career.
Sohail also starred in a horror flick, Krishna Cottage, where he worked with an ensemble cast. I loved the songs in this movie, especially this one! (Remember those older Ekta Kapoor movies? They may not have been as popular as Once Upon a Time in Mumbai or The Dirty Picture, but the songs were so awesome!)
Sohail was both an actor and producer in this film, and also appeared in this wildly popular song (remember how crazy it was back then?)
As the producer, Sohail probably raked in the cash with this film. You’ve got to say this about the Khan brothers – they sure know how to make mass entertainers!
Happy birthday, Sohail, and we hope you “just chill” for this birthday! ;)
