Singer Ricky Martin turns the big 40 this year and with his adorable twin boys, best-selling autobiography and multiple platinum records he has a lot to celebrate. Here’s a look at Ricky Martin through the years.
Martin started his musical career as a member of the band Menudo, he later broke out on his own and got signed to Sony Music Entertainment’s Latin division. His first internationally recognized popular song was Maria from the album A Medio Vivir.
Martin’s song The Cup of Life (La Copa de la Vida) from his sophomore album Vuelve was the official anthem for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Till date his performance of the song at the 41st Grammy Awards is still remembered.
Martin reached unprecedented levels of success and kicked of the Latin pop explosion with his hit song Livin’ La Vida Loca.
Martin’s 2000 album Sound Loaded came with the song She Bangs which wasn’t as successful as Livin La Vida Loca but was nominated at the 43rd Grammy Awards.
In 2010 Martin resurfaced onto the scene with the song The Best Thing About Me is You which also released in Spanish. The song wasn’t a commercial success but received relatively positive reviews.
