Yesterday I attended the preview of Tommy Hilfiger’s new denim and sportswear collections. It was held at Bungalow 9, where the team at Tommy, put up two thematic displays that visually depicted the concepts behind this season’s collections. We were greeted by models who were dressed in the collections; I always say clothes sell better on moving bodies than on a hanger or a mannequin, and boy was I right, because every time there was a clothes change, I wanted to buy what they were wearing!
The denim collection is all about the kids of America, inspired by street wear of preppy/suburban American life. Lots of string bikinis, shorts and cotton tees with playful prints, that fellow MissMalini blogger Ranjit, fell in love with. The color palette, as you can imagine, was red, white and blue – could we get more Americana? Somehow it really did work, especially when paired with their sportswear collection. For our fashionable male readers you’ll want to check out the loafers from both collections – definitely a must buy for your shoe collection (do boys have shoe collections?).
The sportswear collection is ‘separates’ heavy which meant that it’s a working girl’s dream (especially for those casual Fridays). The colour khaki was used generously, and teamed together with a pop of navy blue and white. Being a heel fiend, I loved the striped, chunky, peep-toe heel; it has a strong nautical feel which just added to it’s appeal. The other pair that is a must have for summer is the navy and turquoise coloured flats that will keep your feet cool and stylish. Here are the rest of my picks from both the collections. Which ones do you like?
