Happy Birthday Minissha Lamba
Happy Birthday Minissha Lamba

2011 was probably one of the worst years in Minissha Lamba‘s life. Losing a bag when she arrived in France for the Cannes Film Festival and being detained by the Customs officials back home for undeclared jewelry coupled with some box-office duds was more controversy than the actress had ever known! It’s her birthday today and we really hope that the year ahead is more peaceful and brings with it a lot of challenging and successful movie roles and a lot of happiness for her. On her special day, I’d love to share my collection of her best work.

1) Yahaan – Naam Ada Likhna

Minissha played Adaa in this film which was critically acclaimed and even got her a Filmfare nomination for Best Debut. She played the part of a Kashmiri woman to perfection and her chemistry with Jimmy Shergill was unusually refreshing.

2) Shaurya – Dheere Dheere

Minissha plays a journalist in this movie about the court-martial of a Muslim army officer for shooting his commanding officer. The movie had super talented actors like Rahul Bose and Kay Kay Menon but Minissha totally managed to hold her own even in this male-centric plot.

3) Kidnap – Mausam Yeh Awesome

Minissha looked real hot in this one and though the movie didn’t do too well it was interesting to see her looking younger, more sensuous and giving a lively character like this a shot.

4) Bachna Ae Haseeno – Ahista Ahista

There are three lead actresses in the movie but I particularly enjoyed Minissha’s portrayal of Mahi, this lovable girl who believes she’ll meet her Prince Charming DDLJ style. I love her chemistry with Ranbir Kapoor and their song Ahista Ahista is awesome too.

5) Well Done Abba – Sandesa Sandesa

Minissha was majorly convincing as Boman Irani’s daughter in this political satire. The movie is set in a small village near Hyderabad and it seemed like she worked real hard to get into the skin of the character. Well Done Abba was truly heart-felt and its commendable that Minissha managed to do justice to a complex character that Shyam Benegal envisioned.

Minissha’s all set to star in Shirish Kunder‘s Joker opposite Shreyas Talpade this year and I’m sure she’ll rock in this one too. Can’t wait!

So here’s wishing Minissha Lamba a fab birthday from Team MissMalini and all the luck in the world with Joker and her other movies this year.
