MissMalini thanks so much for inviting me to tell you and your readers all about my favorite pieces I have collected over the years. Unfortunately, I have so many favorites it has proven to be a quite a task to narrow it down, but I’ve done my best to keep the list under control!

But first a bit of advice from a good friend of mine, Fleur Xavier – once you invest in luxury, never look back!  Also, don’t forget that each piece of luxury (or each favorite piece of clothing, whether expensive or not) is unique and must be well taken care of both physically and psychologically – I’ve even gone so far as to name some of my favorite shoes and bags, so they feel special and serve me well.  Apologies to the clothes, bags, and accessories I’ve left out!

My Favorite Outfit: This is actually a tough one, as I always like to keep things fresh and try out different designers and different clothing, shoe, and accessory combinations.  That said, there is one place where my favorite outfit never changes – that’s on the beach, where I of course wear a bikini! Lately, I’m into my Amir Slama bikini that I just picked up from Rio.

My Personal Style: My style varies everyday and according to the event that I am going to. One day I could be wearing Dior heels, Fornarina jeans and a shirt by Anne Fontaine. The next day, I am in kolhapuri slippers, Jodhpurs by Arjun Saluja and a singlet by H&M. I think it is important to always innovate and experiment with one’s style. I don’t like leading a circumscribed life and that definitely translates into my clothes as well.

Fashion Tip: Never limit yourself in terms of color or style. Here in New York, it’s black, black, and more black, and I like to bring the color back! Also, fashion is not about only expensive clothes – it is about dressing smart and creatively. You can wear a basic outfit paired with a funky handbag and look like a million bucks (with the right attitude)!

Lets Begin…
Rodarte and United Nude
Rodarte and United Nude
(1) If you are into Funky shoes, then United Nude it is. They not only have a great variety of amazing funky shoes but also a very creative and interesting store. My other favourites are these Rodarte heels, The color of these are very different and the bling makes it fun to wear as well.
Suhani Pittie and Little Shilpa

(2) This Neck-piece by Suhani Pittie is different. I was doing a show for Anamika Khanna and Suhani had done the accessories. I saw it on one of the models and I just had to have it. Also another great designer is Little Shilpa, absolutely love her head and neck pieces. Her pieces simply transforms your outfit completely.
Manish Arora

(3) One of my first Manish Arora jackets that I possess from his earlier shows. If I am not mistaken, I think I wore it in the show myself.
Catherine Malandrino

(4) A Catherine Malandrino top. This was one of the first buys after coming to New York. I love the color purple and the combination of the lace makes the top look and feel very rich. The sleeves are cut very well. So feminine!
Chloe

(5) I think a camel color bag is a must have in your wardobe. I think Chloé makes very nice bags. However, my eyes are now set on a Celine bag that I recently spotted.
Trippy Hippy Jacket

(6) This is a embossed suede waistcoat that I got from the flea market in Goa. I think some of the hippies that come to Goa and sell at the flea market have really interesting styles that you wont find anywhere else. I like to call this my trippy hippy jacket *lol*
Rachel Roy

(7) This is a Rachel Roy dress, a designer that I am extremely fond of and I do buy a lot of clothes after having moved to NY.
Sabyasachi

(8) My own recent buy from Mumbai. Limited Edition Sabyasachi pants. I love the block print and the embroidery detailing on the pants.

(9) The print on this tee is super cool, I bought this at the Zara store in Rio.
