Remember Berlin Calling?

Sue Castellino
Aneeth Arora and Kallol Datta

I had written a post late last month on Kallol Datta and Aneeth Arora making their debut internationally at Berlin fashion week, remember? Well I caught up with Anjana Sharma,Director of Fashion IMG India, a few weeks back and got a first hand account of what it was like being there, to support the two talented designers.

Psst! Check out the personal message Anjana sent out to both Kallol and Aneeth, exclusively on MissMalini.com!

Kallol Datta

I apologize it took quite this long for this to go up, but I was waiting on the pictures, which were being sent from Berlin, and obviously that takes time. Both the collections were so true to the designer’s sensibilities, that it was no wonder they were such a hit. Deeply poetic and highly visual, Kallol is all about creating a mystical vision, when it comes to his collections. Sticking to his strengths, which are his somber colour pallet and awkward silhouettes, this collection, and his designs in particular, stood out and commanded the attention they deserve.

Pero

Pero opted for shades of blue against dusty browns and layering different types of garments and fabrics to create a new vagabond feel to her collection. Her comfort chic clothing is something that attracts customers, both old and new, and I’m sure this was the highlight for those who saw the collection in Berlin.

At the Lakmé press conference, Anjana said that they would like to send more designers to Berlin, and hopefully other countries around the world, to showcase our Indian fashion aesthetic. We can’t wait to see this small step open even more doors for the Indian Fashion Industry.
