I was sick all day with Laryngitis yesterday, still haven’t gotten back my voice, so Day 3 of Lakme Fashion Week, today, should be very interesting! Having said that, these looks that I’m about to show you, are as fresh to me as they are to you. So let’s have a a quick glance at all of them.
Komal Sood

Holi is just around the bend now, and Komal Sood decided to make that her main inspiration. The collection, but obviously, had to be a burst of vibrant colour and fun, easy-to-wear clothes. I love this dress on Diva Dhawan; it’s simple, yet the bubble hem and off shoulder, make it fresh and probably the best choice for the after Holi party (wouldn’t want to get this ruined though!).
Pia Pauro

I’m seeing a whole lot of collections that are inspired by vagabonds – those of us who love to travel and love to wear our finds. This collection by Pia Pauro, is exactly that. Inspired by the Ibn Batuta (who, up until now, I had no knowledge of), it’s a mix of bohemian with a funky resort feel. The sari, waistcoat and shoes are my favourite things from this collection; it’s young, interesting and definitely not something you see everyday. Perfect for my wardrobe no? I’m sure her show-stopper Tara Sharma wants a few pieces after walking the ramp.
Suhani Pittie

Suhani Pittie always has the most eclectic style of jewellery – not too pretty, not too edgy, and just the right amount of urban cool. This collcection was no less. Predominately gold, with an emphasis on filigri, that took inspiration from the Bidri Star and Chand Bali. It was a very spiritual and sufi-esque collection, especially when paired with the most zen like clothing. We love the jewllery and the clothes. Suhani please start a range of clothing soon!
Payal Khandwala

These looks were all very effortless cool; looking at them you feel like they’d be perfect for that art house movie you’re going to watch next weekend or a friend’s soiree. It had a slight Haider Ackermann feel to it, with the colours and the styling, but everything else was just like the pettite designer herself. Each model looked like a Payal Khandwala clone. If you’ve had the chance to meet her you’ll know what I mean – she’s always so interestingly dressed, and it truly reflected in her collection.
Shift

We’ve been tracking Nimish Shah’s journey, and it finally culminated to his show yesterday. Childlike innocence, with the smallest detail being labored over, it was an easy and ready to wear collection, perfect for the summer heat. The waistline was played around with a lot; it was dropped with the dresses and brought up high with the shorts and pants, which gave the garments a unique look. I love the shift dresses, and can’t wait to steal one. Please Nimish?
