Milliner Shilpa Chauhan (a.k.a. Little Shilpa) and designer Nitin Bal Chauhan, were the big draw on Day 2 of Lakme Fashion Week, as they showed their collections for Disney Couture, which is making its foray into India.

Expectedly, Shilpa showed off a collection of whimsical headgear, which was inspired by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. A towering bow, fashioned from tiny red lights, was perched atop a model’s head ,and garnered a lot of applause for its resemblance to Minnie’s iconic ploka-dotted bow.

Most of the designs were in black and white because, as Shilpa says, “I grew up watching cartoons on a black and white TV!” However, there were elements of red as well, a colour associated with the famous Disney mice!

As for Nitin Bal Chauhan, he looked towards Alice In Wonderland for his inspiration. There was a tea-party laid out on the side of the ramp, where the models had a bite and sipped from their cups. One model, walked down the ramp in a “table”, laden with a teapot and teacup! Fun!

We particularly loved his skeleton bags, and the glittery red lipstick which his models sported!

Yes, this was a collection that redefined fun (Minnie Mouse was the show-stopper, by the way) and we can’t wait for the Disney Couture goodies to hit stores soon!
