Kimaya’s Pradeep and Neha Hirani, announced, by way of a scintillating fashion show, the expansion of their business portfolio with the launch of Karmik, a new designer fashion house, which will stock only ready-to-wear pret, at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.

The concept of the brand is all about providing aspirational designer wear at affordable prices and making it accessible all across the country. “It capitalizes on the gaping void that exists in the women’s ethnic wear segment of the Indian contemporary fashion market,” says Karmik Varma of Kimaya.

Some of the country’s top designers, like Rohit Bal, Anamika Khanna, J.J Valaya, Rocky S, Falguni & Shane Peacock, Ranna Gill, Shantanu & Nikhil, Rina Dhaka, Neeta Lulla and Kavita Bhartia, will be designing an affordable range without compromising on the aesthetics, and retaining their creative individuality.

The show was opened by Bollywood star Sonakshi Sinha (who is a trained fashion designer, incidentally) in a J.J Valaya creation. We spoke to her exclusively for MissMalini, and this is what she had to say:

Also seen at the Karmik show were Sridevi, Mahima Choudury, AD & Sabina Singh, Rohit Bal and Sabyasachi Mukherjee .
