It was the perfect Women’s day surprise, I could have wished for. On Tuesday evening, Zoya celebratred womanhood with a lovely little reading of her Kiran Manral’s new book The Reluctant Detective, at the exqusitie Zoya store in Breach Candy.

It was the perfect wine and cheese evening, and to make it extra special, they had an entire team from Kiehl’s ( love all their stuff) do a little personalized skin consultation for the ladies.  They even gave away little samplers of their bestselling products. Best Women’s day gift ever!

A woman’s three favorite things- books, jewelry, and skincare came together to make the evening totally awesome. We sure as hell felt pampered. Naomi Dutta, the young author of the 6 p.m. Slot, a satirical book on the Indian television industry, did a fun Q & A with Kiran, about her incredible first book, which has been published by Westland, and her undying love for writing everything from blogs, and tweets, to a sequel that’s already in the pipeline.

I cherish my little conversation with Kiran, as she had me all inspired with her ‘we all have a book within us’ belief. It is so completely delightful to see a woman in her 30s, and more importantly a mother, take up writing with such passion and bring her dreams to life.

Jim Vimadalal (Manager – Retailing & Marketing at Zoya) played gracious host to the women, and spoke to me about the inspiration behind Zoya’s genius. The breathtaking jewelry and Zoya’s spectacular ambience, was perfect for this literary rendezvous.

The new French lace collection and the Dance of the White Peacock collection were hot favorites with the ladies. Each collection inspired by a new country, had a story to tell, and the credibility of the brand, coupled with the unique designs, make it feature on my ‘break the bank for this’ list. Also, if you’re looking for a light, humorous read, Kiran’s book (she hates when they label it chick lit) has you in for a treat.
