Nail Art Inspired by Proenza Schouler S/S 2012

Nails are the best way to experiment with your fashion personality, whether you are a bling-tastic diva or demure temptress, your nails can tell people a lot about you. Looking at some of these trends from the Spring 2012 runways, it leaves us with a variety of options to play with. Most of this nail art isn’t very DIY, but I’m sure your nearest nail spa will be able to replicate them. So check them out and tell us in the comments which you like the best!

These look a little like they are grown out nails, but I guess it’s this fact that makes them so grunge-cool. Prabal Gurung had a lot of lilac and purple in his S/S 2012 collection, hence the nail colour. However you can do this technique in different colours of your choice to match your outfit.

These nails at Jen Kao are to-die-for, ultra fake and super want worthy. I want ombre nails too, I’m a huge fan of Ombre, and when I saw this I flipped. I have to find these in a store somewhere, or maybe find someone who can do it, know anyone who can?!

Very Preppy-horse racing chic at Ruffian, with the bold strip in different colours. Although I didn’t find the tutorial, you can do these nails by layering and masking with tape. Remember to be patient while waiting for each layer to dry, or else you won’t achieve the look.

Clear nails with lattice crackle work!? Joy Cioci really does know how to keep it racy and feminine at the same time. These definitely require you to have a manicurist extraordinaire, or else you’ll never achieve them. I love to see new nail art techniques being used on the runway, especially when they are this fabulous!
