The W.E. Rock Concert powered by Nokia Lumia and KWAN was one killer evening with a super hot venue like Hard Rock Café. MTV and Radio One co-hosted the fund-raiser concert in support of Akshara’s Empowering Dreams Programme which works towards the education and empowerment of 100 underprivileged girls in Mumbai.
Nargis Fakhri, looking hotter than ever in a Falguni & Shane Peacock creation was the host for the evening and she giggled her way through an introduction which basically emphasized the importance of women rights and education.
Nargis told us that if it wasn’t for her mother she wouldn’t have even gotten herself a University degree. The concert itself was SO the perfect way to bring in Women’s day in style with some incredible musicians and singers who had the audience totally into their gig.
Karsh Kale and his insanely cool band created magic (check out his album launch at Blue Frog next week) and to add to the awesomeness were some great female vocalists who totally sizzled on stage.
So, there was the superbly talented Shilpa Rao, Monali Thakur, Shruti Pathak, Shefali Alvares, Apeksha Dandekar and the lovely Sarah Jane Dias( looking diva-esque in a green flowy ensemble) all mesmerizing us with their sultry voices.
A whole host of celebs showed up to support the fab cause. The efforts of the talented artists and the wonderful people behind the concert raised awareness and impressive donations for these young women who deserve an equal chance in life.
I loved the whole evening and with a noble cause like this it truly was a celebration of womanhood that I hope these guys continue to support each year.
