Models walk alongside the Louis Vuitton train in Paris

Ever wondered why you had to shell out the same amount as a small country’s annual budget for a mid-size Louis Vuitton bag? It’s just been accidentally revealed by a model (who walked the “platform” for the iconic brand at their Winter 2012 show at the recent Paris Fashion Week), that the specially made Steam Engine and train carriage, costs *hold-your-breath*, Eight Million Dollars!

Said model Kel Markey, in an interview with Women’s Wear Daily (WWD), “The Louis Vuitton show blew me away. I heard the train cost $8 million. And it was so beautiful inside. You think they’d do bare-bones since only us models would see it, but it was really nice upholstery and luggage racks and all this beautiful wood paneling. I guess when Marc does things, he does them perfectly.”

Of course, the folks at LVMH have not admitted to the price tag but when you build a train especially for a show, you can expect the cost to run into a few millions!

So the next time you shell out a few lakhs for an LV handbag, you should probably ask for a free train ticket as well! After all, you’re paying for the train too….!
