Tarun Rai and Sonam Kapoor

On March 22nd, L’Oréal Paris and Femina will host their first Women Awards. But before that, Sonam Kapoor came out to unveil the look of the trophy – as well as the list of nominations. They include women from several different fields, but the coolest news is that our very own MissMalini has been nominated under the Online Influencer category; to the moon, I say! 🙂

Sonam was wearing a 50s inspired outfit, which she told us she and her sister Rhea put together. She also answered a bunch of questions from the media, like which woman she’d like to give an award to, what award she would like to receive, and who in the industry needs fashion tips.

When asked who she’d like to give an award to, Sonam said her nani, because despite being elderly, she still did everything on her own. Sonam says she taught her how to rebel in the fact that she’s a woman and embrace it, even telling her to stop dressing so conservatively!

Of course, since it’s Sonam Kapoor, the fashion element had to come up. She was asked two questions – who in the industry (who has not been nominated for the Style award) does she think dresses really well (Kalki Koechlin), and who she thinks needs tips (“A lot of people… but they all hire stylists now and look the same, so it’s all good.”)

Psst! Fun fact: The logo and trophy have been inspired by the Tangram: a puzzle made of seven pieces of a square that can take on an endless array of forms. It’s supposed to represent women, who have so many sides to them, play as many roles, and are constantly reinventing themselves. Interesting, right?
