At the IBN7 Super Idols awards, a lady came up to receive an award in recognition of her work in the field of autism. After her son was diagnosed with autism, she traveled abroad to study and lend support to other autistic children/family of autistic children. While receiving her award, she made a comment that autism awareness needs to be generated, and a very good way to do that is to have a celebrity face. She asked Salman Khan then and there if he’d be the face of autism in India.
Bit of a situation for Salman, since he couldn’t exactly say no, yet I don’t know if he wanted to say yes, either (it’s a very worthwhile cause and I’m sure Salman thought so as well, but it’s just sort of difficult to commit to something on the spot). Anyway, with all eyes on him (and of course a pushy Rajdeep Sardesai repeating the question), Salman said, “Yes, I will.” Now it’s just to see if he actually follows through with it, but you know – ek baar jo usne commitment kar li… 😉 It’s a great cause for sure, so let’s hope he does take this up and it helps spread autism awareness in India – we definitely need it!
