Tom Ford’s Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection!!!

Zina Tasreen
Hello there, Mr F

Oh hello, I’m back ‒ with another Tom Ford post 😀 This time, I present to you… The entire lookbook of his *heavily-vaulted* AUTUMN/WINTER 2012 COLLECTION!!! And what a stunner it is. Truly lives up to his God-like billing in fashion circles. Come, see for yourself 🙂

Phwoooar!

I presume you already know by now that his collections are staged under a thick veil of secrecy. Only the crème de la crème of fashion are invited, and even then they aren’t allowed to click photos/videos inside. He thinks people get so sick and tired of seeing pics everywhere in the time lapse between the shows and physical delivery of the collection (it’s usually 5-6 months) that when it actually matters there is hardly any freshness or excitement to be found. SO, for mere mortals like us and MANY-a-editors deemed not significant enough by him, he releases a set of photos closer when clothes hit the stores. (I suppose he knows what he’s doing as his eponymous line is doing exponentially well.) How nice of Mr Ford then to release a punchy little photo-montage, exactly a month after the presentation and way earlier than usual, of his precious collection ‒ for us to drool over.

It’s Tom Ford at his best, really. All his classic elements, you name it, it’s all there. Slim-fitting silhouettes? Check. Over-the-knee boots? Check. Leather and exotic skins? Oh, yes. Luxurious details? Sure. Modern power separates? Defo. Show-stopping gowns? You bet. I love the moody setting of the video, the mirrored panels behind the models which cleverly show off low-cut backs and asymmetrical necklines, and that the images are so fleeting that hardly any details can be soaked in by them copycat buggers.

The workmanship in this collection is astounding. One gold knee-length dress with a high neckline and long sleeves has snakeskin scale individually sewn in to a mesh under-layer. And THAAAT is couture for you, not what you’ve seen at Chanel, Dior, Gaultier, Versace and more in January at the Paris Spring/Summer 2012 Couture Week.

…and the back of the dress! See what I meant by his flair for tasteful flashing of flesh?

Another thing I’m always amazed by is how he manages to make his women show a lot of skin without them coming across in the slight bit desperate and obscene.

So classy and alluring, all of it. Oh, to be a Tom Ford women! One can dream

a little

big…

Just ‘cos I want to! Another gratuitous Tom Ford pic… 😀
