We told you earlier that, when put on the spot at a recent event, Salman Khan had agreed to be the face of autism in India. We’d been waiting to see if he would follow up on that promise, and good news – he has. Today, April 2nd, is World Autism Awareness Day, and Salman has taken steps to spread autism awareness in India.
He published a guidebook on autism through his NGO, Being Human, which basically has eight points on autism – stressing, for example, that it is not a disease (it’s a disorder), there is no cure, and autism is not a result of bad parenting. Kudos to him for the initiative and mostly for keeping his word, though of course there is a long way to go yet in generating proper autism awareness. Still, at least we know – ek baar jo usne commitment kar li, he sticks to it!
