We were super thrilled about Anita Dongre’s bridal store opening, even me, someone who is miles away from the alter was excited to see all those lovely bridal outfits. Apart from all the stars that we saw there, what we really loved were the little thoughtful aspects of the event and her store. Keep reading to find out just what we caught!

Roll out the Yellow Carpet

The one thing Anita really wanted for her bridal store was this particular shade of yellow carpet. She confides with us that it took the interior people 3 months to get the exact shade that was custom fitted for her store. It was well worth the wait though, it’s a vibrant rich colour, one that Anita herself loves for it’s cheery and royal quality that lends itself to the garments.

Marry Me Weddings Was there too!

Candice Pereira from Marry Me Weddings was at Anita’s store launch too, and she spotted MissMalini’s sangeet lehenga hanging. Brought back all the amazing goa memories, and the fun we all had.

Sweet smelling Mogra

All guests were greeted with bracelets of fresh mogra that made the whole store smell fragrant. Infact the whole store had fresh festive flowers that dotted the hallways, making it feel like we were going for a sangeet. Love that. I think we should include more flowers in our life, such a great feeling to walk into a floral smelling room!

Anita has always supported craft and textiles from her own Rajasthan. For the event she invited traditional dancers and dhol players to perform. These guys I’m told have just got back from Mexico after performing there, and their next stop is Korea or Japan (one of the two I’ve forgotten, very bad memory!). How incredible is that! So much of our culture is being shared around the world and we don’t even stop to take the time to appreciate it.

Have a Rest men!

A great feature for some of the men who have to take their women on bridal shopping is that this store has a little rest area. Here you can sample fabrics, and relax a little bit while your daughter, wife, sister etc etc get fitted for the wedding. Anita told us that many husbands have fallen asleep, out of exhaustion on those couches!
