Karisma Kapur is one of my favorite actresses ever. Her charismatic acting and her endearing looks have won over audiences the world over. Everyone’s totally elated about her comeback movie with Vikram Bhatt’s 3D love saga/thriller, Dangerous Ishhq. So, we thought we’d do a little memory refresh with a look at ten of her best movies. It’s clearly a personal list and you’re welcome to add more movies and roles you loved to my list so we can do a Part 2!
Her debut flick was a semi-hit and even though she looked a tad scary with her bushy eyebrows and unkempt hair, we knew that this star kid was here to stay.
Another great performance by Karisma where she proved how talented she really is. I love the simplicity of her character in this one. The love story was so innocent, it moved me to tears.
Even with another brilliant actress like Tabu in the movie, Karisma managed to sweep everyone off their feet with her ability to emote and those dreamy eyes. The movie was a commericial success and Salman and Karisma became one of B-town’s most loved pairs.
The movie was a super success and it was like Karisma’s big makeover movie. It was totally awesome watch her trasnform into a gorgeous diva and act really well too.
Karisma had the greatest chemistry ever with Govinda and they had some wildly successful flicks in the 90s. Hero No.1 which was one of the many No.1 movies Govinda rocked in, was also one of her most popular roles. I love that song Sona Kitna Sona with Karisma looking smoking hot and her killer dance moves winning us over.
This one’s my favorite Karisma movie ever. She was so convincing as Nisha, a girl madly in love with Shah Rukh Khan‘s character, Rahul and danced brilliantly too. Her breathtaking performance won her the National Award for Best Supporting Actress that year. Personally, I think it’s also the best she’s ever looked.
This was a really challenging role for Karisma and she pulled it off with conviction. As Hrithik Roshan’s sister and Jaya Bachchan’s daughter, she was endearing and her performance won her critical acclaim and a Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
Karisma became India’s favorite wifey after this one. She played Salman Khan’s wife and won back his love after a nasty battle with the other woman, Sushmita Sen. And, her look was all desi too with sarees and even flowers in the hair.
This was one of Karisma’s most challenging flicks ever. This Shyam Benegal movie was about the life of an actress, Zubeidaa Begum. Karisma was remarkably good and even won a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for her sensitive portryal.
Karisma’s fans and critics the world thought this was one of her best performances ever. She carried the movie on her shoulders and showed everyone that she was clearly at the top of her game even after all these years.
Although we’ve seen Karisma in a dozen commercials and some reality T.V. as well, I know that the gal deserves a grand return to the movies. Her big comeback flick, Dangerous Ishhq is out next week and I’m totally excited about it. We really wish her all the luck in the world with this one and hope it turns out to be the dream return to the silver screen she’s been waiting for.
