He was touted as India’s first true super hero and though he’s not yet won himself a place among The Avengers, Shaktimaan has a place in the hearts of a number of children who grew up in the Nineties and watched the TV show, faithfully.

This time around, Shaktimaan appears in an animated avataar and the show appears on NICK at 6.30 pm. every Monday to Friday.

Here’s some trivia on the character:

* Actor Mukesh Khanna played the role of Shaktimaan and his alter-ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri

* Interestingly, Pandit Gangadhar works as a photographic reporter for the news publication Aaj Ki Aawaz.

* Yes! Shaktimaan is “inspired” by Superman – who also worked as a news reporter as Clark Kent.

*Like Superman, nothing can harm Shaktimaan’s mortality. Besides being able to fly, he can change his size at will and also manipulate the five elements.
