Vidya Balan and Sujoy Ghosh recently came out to launch the DVD of their super-successful Kahaani. At the press conference, they spoke about a possible Kahaani sequel, a film starring Bob Biswas, actors Vidya would like to work with… and why exactly she wants to do a romantic film with Shah Rukh Khan!
Speaking about the Kahaani English remake that was forefront on everyone’s minds, Sujoy Ghosh said that talks are still in the very nascent stage, so he can’t actually say anything about it now. But Vidya (who had, prior to this, not heard about the remake) said that if any Hollywood actor were to play Bob Biswas, it would have to be George Clooney. What do you think?
When asked about a Kahaani sequel, Sujoy laughingly said, “In Kahaani 2, Vidya is looking for a script throughout the film.” So I guess you can take it to mean that he’s figuring out a script, though says he hasn’t started anything on it yet. He mentioned that maybe they could make a Bob Biswas film, but thinks the enigma of Bob lies in the fact that he’s in the film for only short periods of time.
When asked who she’d like to work with, Vidya said she’d like to do a film with Abhishek Bachchan again. She added that she’s very greedy to work with good actors and good directors, so she’d like to work with everyone she’s worked with already, and also a few new people – and she mentioned Hrithik Roshan among the people she hadn’t worked with yet that she’d like to. Someone pressed on and asked out of the 3 Khans, who she’d want to work with – and Vidya said, “I think everyone has their own style, so it’d be nice to work with all of them. But I have to say, hats off to Aamir Khan for Satyamev Jayate. I think only he can do that.”
A journo pressed on and said Vidya usually says she wants to work with Shah Rukh Khan, and asked why that was. To that Vidya responded, “When you think of romance, only two names come to mind. Rajesh Khanna and Shah Rukh Khan. I grew up watching Shah Rukh play the ultimate romance hero. I guess, every girl wants a Raj.” She added that if indeed she does a film with SRK, she would like it to be a relationship-centric one; a nice, romantic film.
When asked about Rakhi Sawant doing the Bengali remake of The Dirty Picture, and Veena Malik the Tamil and Telugu versions, Vidya said: “I’ve seen a lot of Rakhi. She has a lot of masti, so I can’t wait to see what she does with it. As for Veena, I’ve not seen much of her so can’t say.”
