Eighteen years ago in 1994, it was unanimously decided that the most beautiful woman in the Universe was from India. And her name was Sushmita Sen.
The event was the Miss Universe pageant in Manila and the gawky teenager from Delhi was so stunned when her name was called out as the winner, that her eyes almost popped out of her head! In fact, she went down in history as the first Indian woman to win the Miss Universe pageant.
Yesterday – the 2oth of May – was exactly eighteen years since history was made and Sushmita has gone on to becoming the mother of two adopted girls, since then.
Now, Sushmita holds the I AM She contest in India every year and the winner from there goes on to participate in the Miss Universe pageant.
Life has truly come full-circle for her!
