Reading this article in TOI about foot procedures that result in women having smaller feet left me in a shock (primarily because it is lethal). I know most trends from the western world slowly but surely make their way to India, but I’m hoping this one doesn’t. How can women put their feet under the knife just to fit into a pair of shoes?!

While at Rajasthans Fashion Week (RJF) I had a brief moment to catch up with Swati Mehrotra (Swati Modo) to ask her about this new fashion fad that has taken India by a storm. Read more to see what she has to say about this procedure many women are seeking to get done.

“If you have problems finding the perfect pair of shoes… I mean you can come to me *she giggles* after all I am a custom shoe designer!”

Her response was, “I find it ridiculous! If the shoe doesn’t fit… get a bigger size! I just don’t understand why women feel if they have small feet they are beautiful! It really doesn’t matter! Truthfully… for women with smaller feet it is far more difficult to find a pair of shoes to fit into! I have a hard time finding shoes for myself, and I have small feet.”

Would you say women are crazy for considering this surgery? Post your comments below.
