Rajasthan Fashion Week: Day 3 Review

Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha

Day 3 at Rajasthan Fashion Week was immensely stressful, but loads of fun. Stressful because rumor got around that the Rowdy Rathore stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha were going to be stopping by (which they did) for a press release for their upcoming film.

The Rowdy Rathore stars did indeed show up and worked the catwalk like no other. Akshay Kumar danced on the ramp, and drove the crowd wild. Sonakshi Sinha looked beautiful in a gorgeous pink saree with gold accents. The models were also dressed in an authentic Rowdy collection, and wore mustaches to match.

Day 3 was filled with extra oomph, as designers brought their best work out and totally impressed the crowd. Amrita Puri was Amit Talwar’s show stopper, and looked gorgeous. Amit Talwar’s line was magnificent and had a super royal look to it.

International designer Julia Bruchwitz showcased her line for the first time in India, under the brand known as JZ Couture. She had a beautiful collection of kaftan’s and dresses with a European look and feel. She worked with chiffon, georgette, velvet, crepe and silk. Julia’s designs were influenced by Asian embroideries. What I loved most about her collection were her bold silhouettes with which she draped and accentuated the female body.

Geetanjali Rawat was another designer who showcased her line at RFW and her collection was based on the theme “flower.” Her entire line was floral based and used vibrant colors throughout the embroidered designs. Her collection was feminine, flirty, and fun. Jesse Randhawa was Geetanjali’s show stopper, and looked absolutely stunning.

Young designer based out of Jaipur Mahima Madaan brought an original and different flavor to the entire show with her designs. Mahima made Saree’s that were also pants, making her pieces even more appealing for easy wear.

Sharad Raghav showcased his collection at RFW with show stoppers Ejaz Khan and Tia Bajpai.

Another designer I was anticipating was Nitya Bajaj who was inspired by Rajasthan and the vibrant colours found throughout the state. Payal Rohatgi and Sangram Singh were her show stoppers, and for Payal she made a beautiful red laced Swarovski studded crystals gown. For a jewellery designer turned fashion designer she did not disappoint.

Sulakshana Monga had a very eccentric collection, mixing luxury and futuristic looks. The entire collection was very dream based and elegant. She definitely did not disappoint, and her show stoppers were fittingly, Rohit Verma and Jesse Randhawa.

Vikram Phadnis ended the show with his collection Nazakat. It was beautiful! There was not one piece in his collection that I did not like. I want them all! He brought back the old school traditional Indian woman and updated her to the new era while keeping the innocence of each garment intact. The colors he stuck to were gold and black with hints of floral prints giving it a royal and chic look.

Raima Sen was the show stopper and wore her red lehenga flawlessly, looking absolutely stunning.
