The transit of Venus between the Earth and the Sun – which has taken place today – is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and human’s will not witness this celestial spectacle until 2117.

According to the National Geographic website, “Venus’s diameter will appear only about a 30th the diameter of the sun, so it will be like a pea in front of a watermelon,” said Jay Pasachoff, an astronomer at Williams College in Massachusetts.

From among our celebrities, apparently director Shekhar Kapoor witnessed the transit from a telescope at Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. he tweeted:
