Day 10 of Cannes Film Festival: The Fashion Round-up!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the premiere of “Cosmopolis”

Day 10 of Cannes Film Festival had another sighting of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, at the red carpet of Robert Pattinson’s Cosmopolis. Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman’s Hemmingway & Gellhorn premiered too. Fashion-wise, erm, it wasn’t all that great. Still, it’s worth checking out 🙂

The best-dressed of the day, for me, was Robert Pattinson ‒ for perfection in execution. Just as we thought, Gucci it was for him. He went for a made-to-order black peak lapel one button Marseille tuxedo, which he teamed up with a white dress shirt, black satin bow-tie and black leather lace ups.

Everything was just right ‒ and yes, the trouser length too. He looked rather handsome, gotta say.

Of course K-Stew had to be there to support R-Patz! She wore a red crepe gown with a deep V-neckline and lace panels, from Reem Acra’s Pre-Autumn 2012 collection, with red patent leather open toe Giuseppe Zanotti pumps. A gold Cartier ‘Juste Un Clou’ bracelet was all she styled the gown with, when it was calling out for a chunky gold statement necklace or some more accessories.  Right, there’s nothing wrong with the gown, but I just wish she’d wear something fun and age-appropriate.

British model Lily Donaldson looked lovely in an emerald green strapless dress at the red carpet of Cosmopolis. A shimmering silver Jimmy Choo ‘Cameo’ clutch, Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and some incredible Chopard jewels ‒ a striking 18K white gold necklace consisting of three rows of sparkling diamonds worked into tiny flower motifs, and a 18K white gold pear-shaped solitaire ring ‒ completed her look.

Natasha Poly in Roberto Cavalli Resort 2013 at the premiere of “Cosmopolis”

Natasha Poly looked rather tacky at the premiere of Cosmopolis, no? And the trashy red dress, with plunging neckline and cutouts, just so happens to be a Roberto Cavalli creation! Yeah, it’s from his yet-to-be-unveiled Resort 2013 collection, btw. She accessorized the overly revealing gown with nude Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ sandals, a gold Alexander McQueen knuckleduster clutch and ‘Louise’ earrings by Boucheron. Femme fatale or… ?

L’Oréal Paris brand ambassador Aimee Mullins wore a rather unremarkable black toga-like gown to the Cosmopolis premiere. An interesting floral neckpiece salvaged this ensemble of hers.

Anja Rubik in Elie Saab A/W’12 at the premiere of “Cosmopolis” (Photo courtesy | Chopard)

Model Anja Rubik opted for a black dramatic number ‒ with a flowy chiffon skirt and a partially embroidered cobweb bodice ‒ from Elie Saab’s A/W’12 collection to the Cosmopolis premiere. Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, a glittering box clutch, scarlet lips and Chopard jewels finished off the look.

While the 18K white gold earrings set with rubies and diamonds were certainly splendiferous, the Elie Saab dress, was, erm, not the most stunning of his creations we saw that night…

…’cos Aishwarya already grabbed it!! The midnight blue long-sleeved embroidered tulle gown accented at the waist with a velvet floral appliqué, from his gorgeous Autumn 2011 Couture set (we already saw one from the collection on Alexandra Maria Lara on Day 8), twinkled like no other. A grey-blue patent leather clutch, also by Elie Saab, and some lovely L’Or Electric make-up wonderfully finished off her look.

Victoria’s Secret Angel Doetzen Kroes too went for a Elie Saab number to that premiere. The emerald green gown with sequins all over and accented at the waist with a matching belt, from his A/W’12 collection was quite fetching, no? Jimmy Choo ‘Suki’ sandals were all she teamed the dress with. Erm, to nitpick, the whole look would’ve had a much glossier feel if she went for a pinned updo instead of the messy ponytail. Brownie points though for resisting the temptation to throw in some sparkly jewels and a glistening clutch for good measure, and simply relying on the dazzling gown to do all the magic.

Nicole Kidman in a splendid Christian Dior Couture dress at the photocall for “Hemmingway & Gellhorn”

Nicole Kidman looked oh-so-chic in a black-and-white checkered off-the-shoulder belted pencil dress from Christian Dior Spring 2012 Couture, at the photocall for Hemmingway & Gellhorn earlier in the day. It was quite heartening to see the maroon Manolo Blahnik kitten heels from the day before; she’s not above repeating an item from the wardrobe like the rest of us, y’see? 🙂

Nicole Kidman in Ralph Lauren A/W’12 at the premiere of “Hemmingway & Gellhorn”

For the premiere later on in the day she opted for a Art Deco-inspired gold beaded black gown from Ralph Lauren’s A/W’12 collection. The dress is nice ‒ but it didn’t knock me off my feet, you know what I mean? How did y’all like it, in comparison to the ravishing Lanvin gown from the previous night?

Btw, Rob wasn’t all perfection throughout the day. At the Cosmopolis  photocall earlier in day, he looked like he had just rolled out of bed, in an ink-blue Salvatore Ferragamo cotton suit, pale blue shirt (with a white V-neck T-shirt underneath!) and black lace-ups. Wish he had put some thought into this appearance like Zac did the previous day
