Dimple Kapadia is one of the most talented and eternally gorgeous actors of all times. Her beauty and her sense of style made her one of the greatest fashion icons back in the 70s, and she continues to charm us with her radiance even today. On her birthday, we celebrate this superwoman who turns 55 today and still manages to look like a million bucks.
From sporting a bikini at the age of 16 in Bobby, (she could give any B-town actress a run for her money) to playing the love interest of a much younger Akshaye Khanna in Dil Chahta Hai, her versatility amazes me. Her chemistry with Rishi Kapoor was so delightful and it made Bobby one of my favorite classical romance flicks ever. After her marriage to Rajesh Khanna, (they had an enoromous age gap) Dimple took a break from the movies to be with her family. She has two beautiful daughters, Twinkle and Rinke Khanna who we absolutely adore. I love that even after an eleven year hiatus, she still looked super hot, (and had the same sizzling chemistry with Rishi Kapoor) in her controversial comeback flick, Saagar.
Her career has seen several highs and she has proven her acting prowess with films like Insaaf, Insaniyat Ke Dushman, Zakhmi Aurat, Ram Lakhan, and Drishti. She is a woman of substance who captivated our hearts with fearless and intense characters in movies like Lekin, Prahaar and Kaash. One of her most pathbreaking performances was in Kalpana Lajmi’s Rudaali where she plays a Rajasthani woman who cries at funerals. Her sensitive portryal of the emotions Shanichari won her the National Award that year.
What I love about her is that she has always followed her heart and can pull off the most difficult characters with honesty and conviction. I loved watching her and Rishi Kapoor recreate their magical chemistry after all these years in Pyaar Mein Twist and Patiala House.
Team MissMalini wishes Dimple Kapadia a fantastic birthday and we hope she has beautiful year ahead. We hope she continues to work with passion, enjoy life, and create many more beautiful memories to cherish with her loved ones.
