Baichung Bhutia (who is the greatest football icon in the country) is super excited about the prospect of King Khan’s proposed investment in football. SRK’s passion and his team’s hard work translated into an IPL win for Kolkata Knight Riders this year. And now, the buzz suggests that he is planning to acquire 50 percent shares in Dempo which is one of the most successful I-league clubs. Baichung feels that if Shah Rukh Khan does decide to invest in Dempo, it would have an enormous (and a really positive) impact on the popularity of the game.

Baichung’s also making a real effort to get investors for his own team, United Sikkim. He joked about how Salman Khan might get interested in buying a stake in his team, if SRK actually went ahead and bought one in Dempo. Baichung’s happy that SRK picked Goa and not Kolkata (for which he is brand ambassador) as he feels that the Bengal clubs have many big investors and don’t really need him. Excited by the prospect of a B-town star coming over to support the game, Baichung believes that it would make even ‘saas-bahu’ television soap viewers turn to football for entertainment. Do you think it’s time for SRK to change the game?
