While part of me loves the summer and the monsoon, I wish my hair could make friends with the elements and behave during what I call my ‘bad-hair season’. My scalp gets greasy without warning and the ends of my hair go super dry and frizzy. It is not fun. And my search for mediator has been a long one.
I’m a great believer in try before you buy, and definitely try before you blog, and my criteria for any new product or service is this – if it follows up on its premise, job done. Ex: if a hair product turns my hair to straw instead of silk, it’s getting winged out the window, I don’t care what brand it is.
I was recently invited to try Matrix’s new Biolage’s Hydratherapie products and in-salon service. It’s basically 45 minutes of blissful relaxation while my hair was pumped full of a unique product that contains moisture rich aloe vera and cupaucu butter that hydrates and prevents subsequent moisture loss by sealing the hair cuticles. (Did you know humidity makes your hair dry? Sounds crazy but its true! Sidebar – it smells divine!)
So my consult began with a simple yet in depth analysis of my hair and scalp type, a wash, the serum application, a head, neck and shoulder massage and a 10 minute steam. Heaven.
A quick wash and blow dry later, my hair felt much softer and my dry ends were smooth. So it worked. But everyone’s hair looks great when you leave the salon. So here’s the kicker – I was given a home care kit with the Hydratherapie shampoo and conditioner, and when I washed my hair a few days later it was still soft!
Am I going to use the products at home this monsoon? Definitely! I suggest you try it and see if it works for you – like my stylist Tanya said on that day – you know your hair best!
The Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie is available at select salons for Rs. 600 onwards.
