Madhur Bhandrakar receives the conferred the Ganga Sharan Singh Award by President Dr Pratibha Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

Earlier today, director Madhur Bhandarkar received Ganga Sharan Singh Award by President Dr Pratibha Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Shyam Benegal and Girish Karnad were also recipients of the same award along with Bhandarkar.

This award is given to individuals who promote the Hindi language through their area of expertise and is usually a literary honour that the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan (Central Hindi Organisation), confers on writers of  Hindi literature, annually.

Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted to his followers: “Humbled by the support I get from people of all walks of life for the cinema I make. Always a great feeling 2 b motivated like this!”
