Alright boys, time to pay attention. Tricks on how to style yourself for one occasion or another coming your way. Learn on how use colours and prints in your wardrobe or put those accessories to good use. Before you start, let’s hope you’ve read the 5 steps to organize your wardrobe.

All White

So you have a day off and you will be hanging around the city. Your usual shirt-trouser set gets boring and you want to shake things up. You should try going all white, that is if you aren’t an accident-prone case of butter fingers. One can choose to go all white or add just a piece of a light colour to an all-white look. It’s a cool, yet non fussy way to spend an afternoon sipping cocktails at your business brunch.

Tip 1. Wear a well-fitted white shirt over a pair of slim/straight-fit pair of light-toned khaki or linen trousers. Make sure the fit is perfect and the pieces are ironed. Accessorize with tan or grey scandals or moccasins and maybe carry a similar toned satchel (if need be).

Tip 2. For a bit more formal touch. Throw in a pastel coloured shirt or a jacket on to the all-white look. In the picture, the guy chose an off-white suit combo with a lavender toned shirt. Ditch the purple shoes and do a somber grey pair.

Colour-Block

A fun way to bright the day, colour blocking is one of fashions most loved tricks. It involves putting different pieces of clothing in literal blocks of colour; like you did in Lego Land as a child. Don’t get overwhelmed by the idea. It’s not that frou-frou; an average guy can get it right too. Here’s how…

Tip 1. In the simplest form, use two or three colours through the look: t-shirt, trousers, shoes and bang! Colour blocked! The guy in the picture tried a combination of green shirt, electric blue trousers and mustard moccasins and it looks great.

Tip 2. Similarly, those who like layering can add another colour on to the above look. Remember the more the colour, the more responsibility to carry it off. My tip would be keeping it simple.

Tip 3. You can mix one piece that may have a strong coloured print. Check the guy in the picture; he uses a violet checked shirt in his colour blocked look.

Same tone on tone

This trick lessens the fuss of mixing colours. You may carry the same colour through your look. A more flexible look for casual wear, a party or even through work; it’s easy to accomplish and adds length to you, slimming you down.

Tip 1. Do a black tee and dark shorts, take it a step further and match a dark toned bag to keep the look extended. You can do this with any colour or your choice. Remember, dark colours slim you, and light colours add bulk (if you are scrawny and hate it).

Tip 2. If you choose, you can break the look by adding a neutral colour like black or white. The guy in the picture added an inner white-tee and accessorized the look with a blue scarf.

Bold Prints

For all those eclectic minds that love being flamboyant, rock a bold print. Don’t be afraid to be seen in a bold print, just follow a simple universal rule. Balance is the key to rock any look.

Tip 1. A shirt with loud colourful print needs a something to balance it out. If background colour in your printed shirt is dark, use dark-toned trousers to strike even.

Tip 2:  To accentuate the light tones in your print, white works best. It’s easy and a classic buffer.

Mix the prints

Take the bold prints up a notch and mix them up. If you aren’t sure of the combination, don’t be afraid to experiment. But don’t overdo it and maybe diffuse the prints with neutrals, if need be.

Tip1: Try mixing prints by teams like a bold-printed pair of trousers or a shirt will be complimented by a tie n’ dye scarf or a printed pair of shoes.

Tip 2. You could take that quirky jacket and team that with your favourite graphic tee shirt to shake things up. You know you want to.

At the end of the day style is all about being free to choose and express. Don’t feel shy to experiment. If you get it wrong, you know for sure it doesn’t work. Be sure to change things up once in a while, it will keep you fresh and keep them guessing!
